FAISALABAD history Faisalabad, also known as Lyallpur, is a city located in the northeastern region of Pakistan. The history of Faisalabad can be traced back to the ancient times when it was a part of the Gandhara civilization. The city was later ruled by various empires and dynasties, such as the Maurya Empire, the Gupta Empire, and the Mughal Empire. In the 19th century, Faisalabad was a small village known as Lyallpur, it was chosen by the British colonial authorities as a site for the development of an agricultural colony. The city was named after the British governor of Punjab, Sir James Broadwood Lyall. The city developed rapidly and became a major center for textile production and trade. After the partition of India in 1947, Faisalabad became a part of Pakistan. The city continued to grow and develop as an important industrial and commercial center.
